Filming Evaluation

Anna's notes

Planning
When planning our shooting we decided to do our shooting in the holidays rather than in college days because that would limit our time to after college or suring college that would limit our locations and casting.
We plan to do more than one take of a scene, we repeated alot acting as to get the best result and alot of choice of what footage to use.
We also got two cameras to use because this means we can get the same footage from two angles and can cut between them. We also got a tripod for one of the camera so that we could have tripod fottage and handheld for a range of different choice of footage.
We had planned to do most if not all the shooting on the first Saturday on the holidays, however our cast were unreliable and not as many people who we thought would come turned up. We still got a lot of shooting done though. Because of this we planned to do
-Few people Saturday, more Monday, but only got a few others
How successful was our filming?
Problems with casting, only got a few people
Weren’t able to shoot some scenes because of casting
Armature actors, laughing
Noise problems, road, other cast laughing
Good range of camera shooting
Did alot of takes to pick and choose
Good range of locations and didn’t have to go far
Technical problems we faced?
Battery ran out
Any re-shoots?
Yeah to get many options of the same scene

Locations
Cast
We intended to shoot on certain days where most people were available to help us act the scenes, however only a few people arrived on the day which meant that some scenes were put back for another day, this suggested that we had to quickly reorganise our scenes that featured a few characters instead of a group, this led to spending more time on the day sorting out what scenes to film.
When planning the shooting, I looked at similar trailers and looked at the different camera angles and shots that were featured in them; this helped us when shooting our trailer as we had an idea of what positions we needed when filming.
The planning of the shoots could have been improved by ..........
Filming
We planned to start filming our soap trailer on the Saturday in the October holidays; this was so we could get some more people to help us act in the shoot. We continued to capture the rest of the remaining scenes on the following Monday. We took out two cameras from Aquinas library and we already had one tripod to keep some of the scene footage steady, this was to ensure we had a range of camera shots throughout the trailer, for example handheld, establishing shots and tracks.
We followed our script and planning carefully so we would be organised and efficient with the filming. We had dialogue set for the cast to use, however they had the opportunity to improvise which was beneficial because it looked more genuine and natural.
There were many issues that we faced when filming which resulted in shooting for longer than we expected. We had different kinds of issues, some were technical and some were acting problems.
We faced difficulty with the cameras that we borrowed from the library, the main problem was getting used to the camera: of how to zoom in and out, how to play back footage and how to change the settings to widescreen.
The other problem was the battery, the second day of shooting, I realised that the battery of one of the cameras was about to run out, this meant that we could only use one camera to shoot many scenes; this resulted in retaking the same scene to get the different camera shots that we required.  This was time consuming.
Although, we had some setbacks during the filming; we had some good aspects to it which were that we gathered a range of different camera angles, these included: tracks, pans, handheld, point of view shots, over the shoulder, close ups and long shots.
